Michael Mangiarelli

Physical Therapist

What is your name, title, credentials, and specialty?

I am Michael Mangiarelli, a Physical Therapist at Mangiarelli Rehabilitation. I have a Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science from the University of Maine (2014) and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from D’Youville College (2017). I specialize in ACL rehabilitation along with other sports injuries, joint replacements, and rotator cuff surgery rehabilitation.

What brought you to Mangiarelli Rehabilitation?

What brought me to Mangiarelli Rehabilitation is my mother. She started the practice in 2010. At Mangiarelli Rehabilitation, each therapist has autonomy on how they want to treat patients and there is a diversity of thought, allowing therapists to tailor and customize treatment to the specific needs of the patient. This specific clinic is home to me. It is a low stress environment and has a strong emphasis on high quality patient care.

How long have you worked here?

In total, I have been working at Mangiarelli Rehabilitation for a little over a year.

Can you briefly describe your role at Mangiarelli Rehabilitation?

I am a staff physical therapist. My role is to evaluate and treat patients based on functional deficiencies and diagnoses. My goal is to help patients return back to normalcy and beyond.

Can you describe your specialty (or specialties)?

I specialize in ACL rehabilitation and rotator cuff post-operative rehabilitation. I address these conditions using evidence-based practice and aggressive but proven strength techniques that lead to positive results for patients.

What is your favorite part of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is interacting and building relationships with patients. I enjoy the conversations that are had with each patient. We could not ask for nicer people to be surrounded with and work with daily. When you are working to help someone rehabilitate whatever pathology they are experiencing, you get to understand where they come from and who they are—I find a lot of joy in getting to know and understand my patients.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like reading books on finance, religion, and adventure. I also lift weights to stay in shape and I am a Cleveland Sports fanatic. I enjoy spending a lot of time with my family and visiting loved ones. I also enjoy doing handiwork around my condo or tinkering with woodwork in some fashion.

What do you wish people knew about physical therapy?

I would like people to know all the benefits of physical therapy, the importance of strength training, and how it can benefit us regardless of age. I also want to highlight the importance of exercise rehabilitation and of proper body mechanics to prevent further injury. As physical therapists, our goal is to help patients become stronger and more functional so they can go on living at a higher quality of life.
